EGLA MEMAJ

I learned at age of 7-10 simple crafts like hooks, weaving, knitting, and simple sewing, after my mother and grandmother, and started to dress up my puppets … After that I began to draw and prepare to enter to the Art Lyceum, where I studied Painting, Styling, I began to be more involved in the sewing world. There was the time when I created garments with different techniques and textile materials.

During studies at the University of Art for Textile and Fashion Design, I started to work passionately with drawings, sketches, sewing techniques, hand loom, cutting and sewing, as well as hand embroidery, always based on Albanian traditional cultures, proposed in my own style. Lately I began to take seriously the hand-woven technique inspired by Albanian ethnography. I found my love and dedication for hand embroidery as a traditional art style, as my artistic path.
